At that time the Company was handled by independent investors but when the company went bankrupt the Corona name was put up for auction and two companies showed interest in that. First Mexico’s Grupo Modelo and second the Cervecera de Puerto Rico.
In the year of 1985 the company was renamed a Mexican brewery by the judge of Puerto Rico’s bankruptcy, Grupo Modelo also participated in that.
